The history of our church dates back to June 1878 when a settler, Otto Plathner, and a few like-minded Lutherans asked Pastor Reinhold Pieper, located in Wrightstown, WI to preach the Word of God to the scattered Lutherans living in and around Hilbert, also know as Hilbert Junction.
The first Lutheran sermon in Hilbert was then preached after this request in the Temperance Hall. This was the first public gathering of those Lutherans who became charter members of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church.
